On Thursday, July 6th, at 6:30-8:00 pm, Peter Booth, a Persian scholar and translator of the mystical poems of Hafiz, and co-author of the book Dante | Hafiz: Readings on the Sigh, the Gaze, and Beauty, will present Hafiz’s conceptions of the nature of God, how and why God brought about creation, and man’s ultimate state after passing through it.  He will quote extensively from his poetry in both Farsi and English showing how he has crafted his poems to be a spiritual awakener and guide.  Fereshteh Azad will also read from her own translations of Rumi’s poetry.
